Welcome to the new year and to our recorder unit!!
Please encourage your child to practice. Extra practice at home means passing more belts and bonus points towards our classroom challenge. Find the music here.
Your child is responsible for bringing their recorder to every music class (unless you have bought an extra recorder to leave in the classroom).

- Cover all the holes tightly- leaks cause squeaks!
- The left hand is placed above the right hand
- Blow gently with "warm" air. (As if you are steaming up a car window)

We are gearing up for our Christmas Season. We have several activities that are happening.
December 5, 7pm.
December 5, 7pm.
- The Grade 5s are singing at the Oil Kings hockey game at Rexall. Everyone is welcome to come out and hear them.
- The grade 4, 5 and 6s are going to the high school to see the musical "Annie". We are looking forward to the performance.
- Christmas Concert dress rehearsal. This is when the students get the chance to see the other classes perform.
- Christmas Concert #1. We are looking forward to sharing our songs with you. We have been working so hard on them.
- Christmas Concert #2. Welcome one and all! We are excited to celebrate the season with you!
- Christmas Caroling in the gym. Parents are welcome. Mrs. Clark and Mr. Hendrickson performing.

Welcome back! I'm am so happy to return to LES. I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting year! So far here is what we have started!
Grade 2 and 3- Freddie and the Thump in the Night (learning the notes on the Treble Clef Staff)
Grade 4- Folk Music unit- We will be exploring folk music around the world. Learning to sing and dance some of it as well!
Grade 5- Classical Music unit- Up next - Creating a song like a Minstrel did in the Medieval period.
Grade 6- History of Rock n' Roll- Learning about the impact of African Folk music, Blues, and Rhythm and Blues on today's music. We will be listening and creating our own music though out the unit. Including a blues song!
